Do not use the wrong recipe mode
A slow-cooker recipe is not automatically a pressure recipe, and a pressure time is not a slow-cook time. Liquid, evaporation, thickeners, and total cooking change.
Select the mode, lid, valve, vessel, and release specified for the recipe.
Do not overfill or block steam
Keep pressure-cooked food below the correct line and use the lower limit for expanding foods when required. Never cover, weight, or obstruct a steam-release or float valve.
Keep cabinets, face, hands, and loose objects out of the steam path.
Do not force time-saving shortcuts
Thaw meat and poultry before slow cooking under USDA guidance, keep perishable ingredients refrigerated, and do not confuse a cook-duration timer with a safe delayed start.
Never force a pressurized lid or choose quick release when the recipe and manual call for natural release.
Do not use the cooker as every appliance
A slow cooker is not the recommended way to reheat cold leftovers, and an electric multicooker is not a USDA pressure canner.
Use the tool for its validated cooking job and switch methods when food safety or preservation guidance requires it.
