Plan around a normal week
Write down what breakfast, lunch, and dinner will probably look like. That list is a better shopping guide than a giant registry built for someone else's kitchen.
Cover the basics first
- One useful chef's knife and a stable cutting board
- A skillet, saucepan, and sheet pan that fit the stove and oven
- Food-storage containers that stack cleanly
- A coffee or tea setup if it is part of the daily routine
- One countertop appliance that replaces work you dislike doing
Let appliances earn the counter space
A blender makes sense for regular smoothies, sauces, and soups. A slow cooker helps when dinner needs to cook while everyone is out. A toaster oven can be useful when the full oven is slow, unreliable, or shared.
