The After-Cooking Air Reset

Capture pollution at the stove, clear remaining particles, clean grease sources, and ventilate when outdoor air is suitable.

Start before the pan heats

Turn on an outdoor-vented range hood before cooking and use back burners when that improves capture. Lids and lower-emission methods reduce the load at the source.

Keep the purifier outside the grease-splatter and steam zone with clear airflow. Increase its fan speed early instead of waiting for visible haze.

Clear what escaped

Let the hood and purifier continue after cooking until the room has cleared. If outdoor air is cleaner and weather conditions are safe, controlled ventilation can help remove gases that a particle filter does not capture.

A small carbon sheet may soften light odors but cannot make dangerous combustion gases safe. Maintain fuel-burning appliances and carbon-monoxide alarms separately.

Remove the residue

Clean the cooktop, nearby surfaces, and the range-hood filter on schedule. Persistent odor often comes from deposited grease rather than air that needs more filtration.

Inspect the purifier prefilter more often in a kitchen-adjacent room. Do not wash the main filter unless the manufacturer explicitly permits it.

Safety note: Do not place a purifier where heat, liquid, grease, or a trailing cord creates a kitchen hazard.
