Create a boundary at the door

Use a washable doormat, remove outdoor shoes, and keep jackets or work clothes in a defined area. Wipe pet paws after outdoor activity when appropriate.

Change clothes and shower after heavy exposure before settling into upholstered furniture or bed. These steps keep settled pollen from being redistributed.

Make a deliberate window decision

Compare local pollen information with outdoor AQI, temperature, and indoor conditions. Keep windows closed when outdoor pollen is high and use mechanical ventilation according to the home's system guidance.

When outdoor conditions improve, a controlled ventilation period can dilute indoor gases that particle filtration cannot remove.

Clean the capture zone

Damp-wipe the entry surface, clean the mat, and vacuum the nearby floor with effective filtration. Work inward so the highest load does not travel deeper into the home.

Run a properly sized purifier continuously in the occupied room and inspect its prefilter more often. A purifier by the door cannot create an invisible barrier across an open floor plan.
