What you need

  • 3/4 cup cold brew coffee
  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 frozen banana, sliced
  • 1/4 cup rolled oats
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon almond or peanut butter
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup, optional
  • A pinch of salt

Method

  1. Add the cold brew and yogurt first in a countertop jar, followed by oats, cocoa, nut butter, banana, and salt.
  2. Blend on high until the oats disappear into the drink and no cocoa remains around the jar walls.
  3. Let the smoothie stand for one minute so the oats can thicken it slightly, then blend for five more seconds.
  4. Taste before adding maple syrup and serve cold.

Why powders and oats reveal dead zones

Fine ingredients can cling above the liquid line or collect beneath a blade assembly when a jar has weak circulation. A good result should not require shaking dry cocoa from the lid or chewing oat fragments at the end. Proper loading helps, but the jar still has to sweep the full batch through the cutting path.

A jar or cup sized for one large serving
Enough speed to break down rolled oats
A loading order that keeps powders away from dry corners
Simple cup or jar cleanup for a daily routine

Technique notes

Use decaf cold brew if caffeine is not part of your morning routine.
Quick oats blend faster, while rolled oats create more body.
Follow the manufacturer's loading order when using an inverted personal cup.
