Remove loose residue and mineral scale without immersing the base, damaging finishes, or assuming every filter is washable.
Switch off, unplug the base, remove the kettle, empty it, and let every surface cool. Keep the base, connector, cord, and plug dry.
Never immerse an electrical base or pour liquid over its controls. Follow the exact manual for removable lids and filters.
Wash or wipe the filter, lid, and interior only as directed. Use soft tools that cannot scratch a coating, damage a seal, or deform a mesh filter.
Rinse thoroughly and let parts dry before reassembly. Do not leave cleaning solution where it can flavor the next batch.
Use the manufacturer's concentration, fill level, soak or heat cycle, and rinsing sequence. Vinegar, citric acid, or a commercial descaler is not automatically approved for every kettle.
Repeat rinsing or fresh-water boil-and-discard cycles exactly as instructed before drinking from the kettle again.
Visible film, flakes, longer heating, or changed noise can signal scale. Hard water and frequent use usually require more attention than soft water and occasional use.
A calendar reminder is useful, but inspection and the manual should determine the actual schedule.
