Use the mug, brewer, or scale to size each batch without violating the kettle's minimum fill.
Fill the mug, pot, or press with cool water, then transfer it to the kettle when that method stays above MIN and avoids contamination.
For a coffee scale workflow, weigh the planned brew water plus a modest allowance for rinsing or retention.
Never run below the minimum or above the maximum. When one cup is below MIN, heat the required minimum and use the remainder deliberately.
Do not tilt or interfere with the kettle to force a small batch.
Mark common batch volumes mentally or use clear level indicators. Refill only for the next immediate task rather than keeping unknown water in the kettle indefinitely.
Fresh measured water also makes boil-time comparisons more meaningful.
Safety note: Fill with the kettle off its powered base unless the exact manual explicitly instructs otherwise, and dry the exterior before reseating it.
