Check the handle and lid for movement, the body or glass for damage, and the spout filter for secure seating.
Look at the cord, plug, base contacts, and housing for cracks, discoloration, residue, or moisture.

Check the water path
Use a soft light to inspect the interior for film, flakes, staining, or scale. Clean removable parts only by the model's approved method.
Do not probe the sensor or heating surface with metal tools.
Review behavior and recalls
Think back to the last cycles: normal shutoff, stable seating, expected noise, and no leakage or electrical odor.
Record the model number and check CPSC or manufacturer notices if anything has changed or the kettle was bought used.
Safety note: Stop using the kettle if the handle, lid, glass, cord, base connection, or shutoff is unreliable.
