What you need

  • 6 ounces prepared pizza dough
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons crushed tomatoes
  • 2 ounces low-moisture mozzarella, torn
  • 6 small basil leaves
  • Pinch of kosher salt
  • Flour for shaping

Method

  1. Preheat the toaster oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit, or the model's pizza setting, with the rack in the specified position and an approved pan inside if the manufacturer permits preheating it.
  2. Shape the dough into a thin 9-inch round on a lightly floured surface. Brush the rim with oil and spread the tomatoes thinly.
  3. Add the mozzarella with space between pieces. Transfer to the hot pan using the manufacturer's safe method.
  4. Bake until the underside is set, the rim is browned, and the cheese bubbles, 9 to 13 minutes. Remove to a heat-safe surface and finish with basil and salt.

Toaster oven lesson

Wet sauce and thick cheese slow the center before the rim and top overbrown. A thin layer keeps the small pizza balanced.

Use only a stone, steel, or pan approved for the exact toaster oven.

Make it easier

A baked flatbread or naan can replace raw dough; reduce the time and watch the edges closely.

Do not let parchment extend beyond the food or lift toward an element.

Safety note: Do not taste raw dough. Flour is a raw food, and the pizza must be baked fully before eating.
